MoviĜo Robotics wins EDP Award for Best Robotics for Commercial Production
At Drupa 2024, MoviĜo Robotics’ Ŝharko5 solution was awarded Best Robotics for Commercial Production by the European Digital Press Association – EDP. The EDP Awards is an annual competition that recognises the best digital technologies in various categories of digital printing, publishing, and converting.
Experts from Europe’s 20 leading trade magazines
Experts from Europe’s 20 leading trade magazines, consisting of independent consultants, editors, engineers, and other graphic industry-related professionals judge the entries. The jury values innovations that improve productivity, quality, usability, and reduce environmental impact, as well as production costs. During the EDP award ceremony in the Drupa Cube, MoviĜo Robotics was awarded in the category of Automation & Quality Control.
The Award winning Ŝharko5 solution is part of a complete solution brought to market in collaboration with HP. The solution consists of not only a robot, but also comprises intelligent software called INDI. INDI is designed to communicate with HP Indigo Presses and allows for interfacing with presses, manages pallet locations in the warehouse and manages pallet locations near presses and finishers. Combined with the Ŝharko5 autonomous mobile robots, the solution for pallet transportation performs throughout any Print Shop, saving manual labor and streamlining workflow while keeping the presses continuously operational.
The jury report states: “Up to now, most innovations have focused on the printing process. But now, thanks to autonomous mobile robots (AMR), the operational processes around the press – particularly loading and unloading – are becoming increasingly interesting and could replace the pallet truck.”
“Our solution is a significant step in print industry automation”, says Paul van der Hulst, CEO of MoviĜo Robotics. “We are proud that we, as a partner of HP, have been awarded by EDP for this innovation. It shows that we, together with HP, are on the right path helping the Printing Industry move towards its next level of automation.”
